Charity Navigator is a website that provides “objective ratings” to help donors find charities they “can trust and support” instead of giving money to organizations that might waste it.
Other agencies, such as GuideStar and San Francisco’s GiveWell program, are more subjective and offer standard metric analyses in determining which programs are the most effective for immediate and shorter-term needs. However, these types of guides focus mainly on “narrow impact metrics” which may not address the cycle of poverty itself.
